Repair or replace my roof?
Repair if the damage is limited to a small area and the roof has years left. Replace if it's near the end of its life (about 20–25 years for asphalt shingles), leaks in several places, or the decking is soft.
Will insurance pay for my roof?
Usually only for sudden damage such as storms, hail or a fallen tree — not wear and tear. Photograph the damage and call your insurer before major repairs.
