About Oak and Sage Native Gardens

Oak and Sage Native Gardens is a Southern California-based landscaping company specializing in drought-tolerant native plant gardens. Owner Richard Barry brings over 16 years of professional experience, including previous roles as a Federal agriculture inspector and work with native plant landscapes in Massachusetts before relocating to California in 2019. The company designs and installs sustainable ecological landscapes throughout the Inland Empire and North Orange County, focusing on beautiful California native plants like oaks and sages that thrive with minimal water—typically requiring watering only every 3-4 weeks. Each garden is thoughtfully created to reflect the local sense of place while supporting native wildlife including birds, butterflies, and other ecosystem creatures, offering significant water conservation benefits compared to traditional exotic plant landscapes.
